JESSICA JANUAR
Jakarta based lyric soprano, musical theater actress and a vocal teacher, Jessica Januar received her training at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama, earning her Graduate Certificate under the guidance of Mrs. Sarah Pring. Jessica also took a summer course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2019, focusing on Acting in Musical Theatre under the guidance of Ken Rea, Wendy Allnut, Katie Henry, and others. Having just recently released her third single, “Tetap Di Sini,” with music composed by Ifa Fachir, Jessica also collaborated as a lyricist as well in this production.​
Jessica’s musical journey started at the age of 11 by joining Indonesia Children’s Choir (Paduan Suara Anak Indonesia) under the guidance of Mrs. Aida Swenson-Simanjuntak. She has performed both nationally and internationally with PSAI, and was featured as soloist in various performances, most notably “Celebrities For Kids,” a concert held by UNICEF in 2004.
Her classical training in singing started with Mr. Avip Priatna at the age of 15. Jessica is also a member of Batavia Madrigal Singers, participating in countless performances and international competitions, winning several prizes including Grand Prize at 51st Tolosa Choral Contest in Tolosa, Spain. She was also featured as a soloist for BMS’ concerts and competitions for couple times.​
With many performances under her belt, Jessica also performed in recitals, collaborating with pianists and orchestras alike. Notable recent performances include: Tales of Spring in 2019 with pianist Edith Widayani; soloist with oboist Joost Christian Flach with Jakarta Sinfonietta conducted by Iswargia R. Sudarno, performing aria "Der Glänzende Himmel'' from opera Günther von Schwarzburg by Ignaz Holzbauer; and soloist with Jakarta Concert Orchestra conducted by Avip Priatna, performing Mozart’s concert aria “Vorrei Spiegarvi o Dio”. ​
She actively participated in masterclasses from various international Professors like Bettina Jensen (Germany) and Katherine Ciesinski (USA).
As a musical theater actress, Jessica’s first professional debut was in 2013, performing “Gita Cinta The Musical rerun” production by Artswara as an ensemble cast. She has been featured in many since, with the most recent performance in 2021, appearing on “Serial Musikal Nurbaya'' production by Indonesia Kaya, working with directors Naya Anindita, Venytha Yoshiantini, and Executive Producers Garin Nugroho and Renitasari Adrian.
in 2022 Jessica performed as Ratna Djuami( Omi) in Monolog Musikal " Inggit" production of Titimangsa. Jessica has also worked with outstanding Indonesian musicians and composers of various genres, such as Dian HP, Dwiki Dharmawan, Nathan Paul Iskandar, Ivan Tangkulung, Dameria Hutabarat, and many more.
